How EXACTLY Jasmin Alić built 268k followers in 23 months (After quitting TWICE)
Each week, I breakdown a founder brand, their journey and how you can weave their strategies into yours.
*This is Jasmin's total engagement numbers from his 8-year journey (through November 2, 2024)
Introduction
Have you ever felt like giving up after trying something twice and failing?
Good news – the next time may be the charm (whatever number that is).
Just ask Jasmin Alić.
He really struggled with growing his brand on LinkedIn. Twice.
“Back in 2020, I started here but quit after 5 days.
Then in 2021, I did it again. Lasted 5 weeks.
I gave up on LinkedIn. Twice.
But in 2022, something changed.“
Today, Jasmin isn't just another LinkedIn creator. He's THE creator.
- Ranked #1 LinkedIn Creator worldwide.
- 268K+ loyal followers.
- 870,000+ reactions.
- 575K+ comments.
- 36K+ reposts.
But here's the first weird thing I found…
His very first LinkedIn post from 2016 (a simple article share) still gets engagement today.
Yes, people scroll to the bottom of his “all posts" to see where it all started - 8 years ago.
That's the Jasmin Alić effect.
But here’s the thing…
That very first post – just a simple link to an article about two powerful words that could supercharge your business - has 5 reactions and 4 comments.
Not exactly viral numbers.
But here's where it gets interesting.
That same post started getting new engagements... 7 years after it went live.
Between his first post in January 2016 and his eventual success, there are several gaps that would make most people quit forever.
After a few posts in January 2016, he shared only one post in February... then disappeared for a year.
But fast forward to 2024:
- Global #1 Copywriter and Personal Branding expert (Favikon ranked).
- Brand collaborations with Microsoft, Shell, and Marriott Bonvoy.
- Co-founder of Link Up (a LinkedIn audio podcast).
- Speaker at TEDx Sarajevo, Linked Summit….
- Featured in Forbes and HubSpot.
- Founder of Hey Jay agency.
In a world obsessed with overnight success, Jasmin proves that sometimes you have to fail your way to the top.
But how does someone go from "I quit" (twice!) to building a highly successful brand and becoming one of LinkedIn's most influential voices?
That's exactly what I’m going to break down today.
Let’s get into it…
How Jasmin Makes Money
On March 11, 2024, Jasmin shared something remarkable in his post:
“My LinkedIn's earned media value in 2023 was $1.2M.”
In the same post, he said…
“We've built solid 3 streams of income.”
But here's the thing – this didn't happen overnight. And definitely not without some interesting plot twists.
But let’s rewind a bit…
Before becoming LinkedIn's #1 creator...
"Most of you know me as a Copywriter or LinkedIn Growth expert. But I've actually had 31 jobs in my life
I've cleaned trash from the streets. $15/hour.
I was a rapper. $5 per CD. $500 per live show.
I was a tour guide to tropical locations. $100/trip."
Here's what's really interesting – Jasmin made his first LinkedIn dollar with just 4k followers (he shared this on December 5, 2023).
Today, his streams of income look a bit different.
Let's break it down…
High-Ticket Coaching
This is where Jasmin really shines. Here’s the structure of his coaching packages:
- 1-1 Coaching: $1,000/hour
- 4-Week Program: $5,000 (includes 1-hour weekly calls and ongoing content support)
- Team Training: $12,000 (9-week course)
On August 22, 2024, Jasmin mentioned having coached 200+ clients on LinkedIn.
In October, he mentioned his coaching slots booked till February 2025, and here’s what he shared in September 2024…
"As of today, I'm 90% booked for coaching until 2025. Locked in!"
source
Speaking Gigs
Just to get an idea of how much he charges for a speaking gig - think about $5,000 per gig (just saying based on what he shared on October 10, 2024).
"In 2019, I made barely $1,500 the entire year.
In 2024, I charge 4x that for a daily workshop."
His speaking calendar is packed with:
- International conferences.
- Corporate workshops.
- Mastermind events.
In January alone, he traveled to 5 countries in 10 days – all thanks to LinkedIn. Even Porsche flew him to Italy (shared in July 2024).
On October 7, 2022, he mentioned his proposed Mastermind conference in Amsterdam. All tickets were sold out within hours of launch.
You get the gist. He travels the world speaking about branding, copywriting, and online growth.
Premium Community Launch
On September 2, 2024, he announced starting a paid community in October (and 350+ people are on the waitlist)…
- Regular Membership: $150/month
- VIP Access: $500/month
Before even launching, he had 400+ people on the waitlist by October 2024.
Do the math:
If just half of those waitlisters join the regular membership...
That's $30,000 in monthly recurring revenue (Not including VIP members).
Newsletter & Masterclass Attempts
Now, here's where Jasmin keeps it real. In September 2023, he openly admitted:
"Launched a newsletter (failed)"
"Announced my masterclass (waiting)"
In July 2024, he mentioned re-launching the newsletter in August.
Well, I hope he did. But I didn’t find any more posts on that.
Of course, he has a waitlist for his newsletter, and anyone can signup on his website.
When Jasmin hit 200k followers in March 2024, here's what he says…
So far…
200+ coaching hours booked
100+ people coached as 1:1
1,000+ coached in groups
10,000+ event attendees
10+ countries traveled
Upcoming...
15+ keynotes & speaking gigs
20+ new countries on the list
Hiring new people (whoop!)
More events and trainings
A very special "launch"
But here's what makes Jasmin's approach unique. On June 2, 2023, he shared his simple three-step formula for doubling his income. Here’s what he says…
How I DOUBLED my earnings in the last 12 months
(and you can do it too - in 3 easy steps)
1. Offer
2. Free
3. Stuff
Keep giving more → keep them coming back
The Platform Jumps
Unlike most creators who try to be everywhere at once, Jasmin Alić took a different approach – he went all-in on LinkedIn.
- No platform hopping.
- No cross-posting strategy.
- No "let me build everywhere" mentality.
Just pure, focused domination of one platform.
All his social media accounts serve one purpose. They lead you back to LinkedIn – his digital home base.
But here's where it gets interesting…
In a world where most creators preach "don't put all your eggs in one basket," Jasmin's doing exactly that – and winning big.
Here’s his strategy…
Master one platform so well that it doesn't matter what happens everywhere else.
Sometimes, the best way to win isn't to play every game…
…it's to become unbeatable at one.
The Attention Timeline
Every motivational speaker says, “Never give up”.
Well, Jasmin did give up. Twice.
And somehow, that turned out to be the best thing for his career.
Let's rewind to January 14, 2016. Jasmin's first LinkedIn post was nothing special - just a link to an article called "2 Powerful Words That Will Supercharge Your Business (and Life)" (5 reactions, 4 comments).
But here's the crazy part - that same post still gets likes and comments today. The earliest engagement came 7 years after he posted it. Ha ha!
His early posts were exactly what you'd expect from someone just testing the waters - just links to blogs and these:
- "Nice!"
- "Perfect!"
- "Definitely!"
- "Point blank period."
- "One of the best reads I have had in a while."
- "Brilliant! We'd be happier and more successful if we stopped giving reasons for everything."
In January 2016, Jasmin shared 8 posts. Not bad for a beginner (especially back then).
However, he continued in February 2016 with a single post and … well, disappeared.
Nothing, just … silence.
He literally didn’t show up on LinkedIn until the new year, when he resumed posting nothing but a link.
For the next five years (2016-2020), Jasmin was like most people on LinkedIn - posting randomly when he remembered the app existed. Here's his 5-year performance:
- 64 total LinkedIn posts.
- 50 reposts.
2020 came around, and Jasmin decided to get serious about LinkedIn. He lasted 5 days.
In 2021, he tried again, but only lasted only 5 weeks. He posted 42 times, getting:
- 33 reposts
His best post that year dropped on May 20, 2021.
All he wrote was "So true! " with an image. That simple post hit:
- 11 reposts
Now, maybe this post gave Jasmin an idea of what LinkedIn is about and how you can drive engagement; I’m not exactly sure. But he sure did some things right with this post.
- Use controversy smartly - create healthy debate even when you disagree.
- Tap into people’s emotions - make people feel something.
- Respond to every comment - build real connections.
- Keep it short and sweet - respect people's time.
- Add a dash of humor - be human.
2022 was the year everything changed.
Jasmin posted 294 times - that's 2.5x more than his entire posting history combined.
The results were mind-blowing:
- 62,650 total reactions.
- 1,415 reposts.
January 2022 started with a bang:
New year, new you? Meh…
"Don’t wait for next year, month, week or day to start doing the things that help you grow."
But it only got 21 reactions.
Two weeks later, he wrote about terrible corporate speak:
"We offer a synergistic approach to creating cutting-edge solutions that will redefine the technology of tomorrow."
See his response… "What the HECK did I just read?"
Despite only getting 5 likes, this post showed his evolving style…
- 1 identified problem (with a perfect example).
"We offer a synergistic approach to creating cutting-edge solutions that will redefine the technology of tomorrow."
What the HECK did I just read?
That's exactly how your prospects feel when they read about you.
- A nice hook (and a rehook).
- Simple solution.
The solution to this problem is simple:
Simply…
Simplify your messaging.
Yes, dumb it down.
Yes, use super-simple words.
Write your brand message in a way MORE people could understand. More people could connect with. More people who would say "huh, this looks interesting"...
- Engaging call-to-action
How would you redefine/rewrite the message above?
Give me your best try in the comments.
(I won't judge, I swear)
- Perfect image match
For six long months, Jasmin posted consistently (good, valuable posts + media) but rarely broke 100 reactions.
Then July happened.
A post hit 1,800+ reactions and 282 comments. August brought 2,800+ reactions and 362 comments on a single post.
In September, he got 2,900+ reactions and 350 comments on another post. December exploded with 4,686 reactions, 1,989 comments, and 279 reposts.
December 2022 became his breakthrough month. His post…
Want to get "noticed" on LinkedIn? Improve your comments.
Here are 7 ways I leverage comments to grow my brand:
… went viral because it:
- Was direct and straightforward.
- Promised clear value (7 tips).
- Included a 26-page carousel.
- Added humor in the closing.
- Solved a common problem.
- Used perfect formatting.
In the post, Jasmin shared one secret to his growth on LinkedIn - He mastered commenting on other people’s posts.
In his words…
I gained 18,835 followers this year alone.
Most people would say it’s because I post every day.
But if you ask me…
Commenting is the reason.
And that was a great post. But if you think that’s the peak of his performance in 2022, well… think again!
Two weeks later, on December 27, 2022, he dropped "Writing good LinkedIn content isn't enough anymore" - his biggest hit yet:
- 629 reposts
This post changed everything. It proved that Jasmin had cracked the code.
2023 was absolutely insane. With fewer posts (258 vs 294), he achieved:
- 7x more total reactions (428,894).
- 10x more comments (255,319).
- 14x more reposts (19,906).
On April 26, 2023, Jasmin shared about his Favikon rank #1. Here’s the hook:
"NUMBER. ONE. IN. THE. WORLD.
2 years ago, I had 0 social presence." (4,707 reactions, 1,175 comments, 32 reposts)
He shared about a new role as a co-host of an audio podcast, Link Up, on June 23, 2023.
So I got a new job today!
Starting next month, I'll be co-hosting a regularly scheduled audio event on LinkedIn with my friends, global superstars, Luke Matthews and Lara Acosta!
(I also recently wrote Newsletter editions about Luke Matthews and Lara Acosta)
The growth kept accelerating:
- July 2023: 110k followers
- September 2023: 130k followers
- December 2023: 146k followers
- March 2024: 200k followers
- June 2024: 225k followers
- September 2024: 260k followers
And today, he's not just LinkedIn's #1 creator - he's ranked #1 Copywriter and Personal Branding expert globally, with an authority score of 229 on Favikon.
And here’s craziest part.
He achieved this while posting less, not more.
Most creators think they need to post every day. Jasmin never has. Not once has he posted 7 days a week.
Here’s his secret…
Quality over quantity.
Every post has:
- Clear message.
- Strategic timing.
- One clear action.
- Perfect formatting.
- Active comment engagement.
The compounding effect is real - it comes gradually, then suddenly.
For six months in 2022, Jasmin couldn't break 100 reactions. By December, he hit 10,000+ on a single post.
Today, with 850+ total posts generating:
- 870k+ reactions
- 575k+ comments
- 36k+ reposts
The Attention Attractors of Jasmin
1. The Comment Master Strategy
Jasmin didn't just post content - he mastered the art of commenting. He shares exactly how he does it in his post:
Want to get "noticed" on LinkedIn? Improve your comments.
Here are 7 ways I leverage comments to grow my brand:
1. I share my honest opinion about the post I've just read
2. I rewrite the original post / add my own point of view
3. I offer genuine advice; things I wish I knew sooner
4. I offer professional advice = tips free of charge
5. I summarize longer posts using bullet points
6. If I disagree with something, I tell them why
7. I share motivational quotes as my reaction
2. The Comment Section Domination
Jasmin treats his comment section like a second stage. His December 13, 2023 post revealed the exact formula:
1. Before I post
- Support 50+ people daily on their posts.
- Login and engage every good post you find.
- Or create a ‘daily engagement list’ and save their posting time.
2. When I post (first 10 minutes)
- Never post and ghost.
- That’s the worst thing you can do.
- Start responding to comments in real-time.
3. 10 minutes into posting
- Publish your “pinned” comment.
- Never end your post with the post.
- Post 3-7 pinned comments under your post.
4. After 1 hour
- Stay in the comments for 60-90 mins.
- That’s where you build real connections.
- Come back later for 5-10 minutes, multiple times.
3. The Format That Forces You to Read
Everyone writes on LinkedIn. But Jasmin makes you want to read his posts. His December 27, 2022, post spilled all his formatting secrets:
1. Descending Copy
- Each line gets shorter.
- Starts with longer lines.
- Keeps readers hooked till the end.
2. Ascending Copy
- Builds reader interest.
- Starts short, grows longer.
- Promises ‘more value ahead’ perspective.
3. Strategic List Building
- No white space.
- Minimum 5 lines.
- Equal line lengths (work better).
4. Smart Emoji Usage
- Groups for categories.
- Pairs for comparisons (✅/ ❌).
- Traffic lights for journey (🔴🟡🟢).
5. Pattern Play
- 1-2-1-2 rhythm.
- 1-3-1-3 sequences.
- Consistent textual patterns.
4. Add Personal Touch to Posts
Despite LinkedIn's "professional" reputation, Jasmin gets deeply personal. Check out these examples:
Hi, I'm Jasmin. I'm 31. And I'm a single dad.
Most of you know me as Jay the copywriter.
The LinkedIn guy with super applicable advice.
In my country, I'm mostly known as a professor.
But at home... nobody's got a clue about what I do. 😂
I'm the dad that's "ON" 24/7. Pillowfights included.
The dad who cooks. Cleans. And brings car toys.
A dad who "does it all". Others say it's inspiring.
For me, this... is the most rewarding job ever.
He shares real struggles:
- Missed DMs
- Delayed emails
- 4 AM response times
- Work-life balance challenges
I'm a 30-year-old single dad.
I don't get to work as much as I want.
If I don't respond to your DM right away...
If I don't respond to your email right away...
If I don't reply to 1,000+ comments every day...
Or better yet...
If you see me respond to your DM at 4am...
If you think I'm distant in the afternoon...
If you think I'm flat out ignoring you...
I promise you, I'm not.
Being a top LinkedIn creator pays big money.
Being a dad? It pays me more.
This vulnerability works because:
- It's authentic, not forced.
- Connects on a human level.
- Makes success feel achievable.
- Shows the person behind the expert.
This is what I call the "Jasmin Effect" - when expertise meets humanity. It's not just about what he shares but how he shares it.
His posts work because they're:
- Easy to read
- Value-packed
- Personally relatable
- Professionally actionable
Anyone can copy these techniques. But it's the consistent application that turns them into attention magnets.
Start with one, master it, then add another.
How to Copy/Paste Jasmin’s success
1. Master Your Content Structure
First impressions matter. When someone sees your post from a distance, it should look inviting.
Try Jasmin's proven formatting techniques:
- Ascending copy
- Descending copy
- Loooong lists - min. 5 lines
- Traffic light signals (🔴🟡🟢)
- Emoji groups (best for categories)
- Emoji pairs - comparisons (✅/ ❌)
- Rhythmic writing (1-2-1-2, 1-3-1-3 pattern)
2. Comment Like You Mean It
Stop dropping "Nice post!", “Thanks for sharing”, or just some thumbs up emojis.
Although you can thank them for sharing… but if you want to be different than other people, you have to give more than other people.
Here's what works...
Share valuable comments:
- Be first (it matters).
- Offer insider advice.
- Share professional tips.
- Add motivational insights.
- Summarize using bullet points.
- Rewrite sections with your spin.
- Give honest, personal opinions.
- Disagree respectfully when needed.
3. Use The 1000 Follower Strategy
Jasmin shared his exact commenting strategy that has gotten him 1k followers per day (TRICE).
He simply HACKED the people with his comments. Here’s what he said (and you can do the same today)...
- Find 15-20 LI creators with 10-50k followers
- Find 10-15 creators with 50-100k followers
- Tap their 🔔 to see exactly when they post
- Comment within the first 5-10 minutes
- Comment with intent; no "great post"
- Comment as if you're writing a post
- Comment to start conversations
- Get people to visit your profile
- Convert them into followers
- Do so throughout the day
This is not a LinkedIn algorithm hack. It's a people hack.
4. Own YOUR Comment Section
Your comment section is your second stage. Use it wisely.
Stay active:
- Respond in real-time.
- Engage for 60+ minutes.
- Return throughout the day.
- Use pinned comments strategically.
Pin comments are not just the usual comments… they must be different. Here’s some added value you can use…
- Share a bonus (tip or infographic).
- Share behind-the-scenes (pictures).
- Ask another question (opens discussion).
- Announce things (great for non-salesy selling).
5. Plan Smart, Stay Flexible
The very first thing about planning your strategy is to post consistently. But consistently DOESN’T mean daily. Jasmin posts 3-4 days per week.
Up till now, there’s not a single month when he posted every single day. He has never posted 7 days a week - not once.
So, here’s a list of what you can easily copy from Jasmin’s strategy list.
- Post consistently (+/- daily).
- Include a P.S - 1 question or 1 CTA.
- Every post has 1 message, 1 action.
- Share everything you know (for free).
- Never - ever - post “just for the sake of posting”.
- Always post at the same time (you can schedule it).
- Find the right mix of text, visuals, carousels, or videos.
- Leave comments in your post (Jasmin does this every hour)
Success on LinkedIn isn't about never failing. It's about failing forward. Jasmin quit twice, posted hundreds of times with minimal engagement, and kept going anyway.
Start today. Pick one strategy. Make it yours.
Until next Wednesday,
Keep growing.
